PugSpeak's Next Pug Parliament

Thu, 26 Jun 2008 15:00:00 CST

The next PugSpeak Pug Parliament is scheduled for Sat. September 20, 2008 in Overland Park, KS.

Every year, PugSpeak hosts a Pug Parliament, a pug event and gathering organization for the greater Kansas City area.

This year, Pug Parliament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20 and the theme is Pugtober Fest 2008.

PugSpeak has hosted Pug Parliaments since 2003 and invite pug owners, their pugs, family, and friends living in or visiting the greater Kansas City area. And for those interested in adopting a pug, this is a good opportunity to meet with other owners and observe the pugs in action.

For those interested in attending, please email PugSpeak or call at (913) 403-8009.

Please Consider Pug Rescue

Thu, 26 Jun 2008 15:00:00 CST

With the coming of spring, when a pug lover's fancy turns to a new pug baby, we ask that you consider pug rescue.

The topic of pug rescue is a very important one to us at PugSpeak. When we launched this news page as well as our blog, PugSpeak Pug Ponderings, our goals were to bring PugSpeak news to our customers and visitors. We want you to be the first to know all the pug news including pug rescue updates and news.

We cannot begin to tell you how many pugs (and now puggles) are relinquished and/or abandoned each day, each and every year. It's very difficult to read many of the stories and see the photos (especially if you are aware of what the little pug has been through), but we need to visit the rescue sites, read the stories, and become aware. As humans on this planet, we need to make ourselves aware of what's beyond our backyard. It's so easy to get wrapped up in and trapped by our own inertia.

PugSpeak has always taken this stand: We support professional and responsible breeding. But first and foremost, we believe one should consider and explore pug rescue. Often times, we hear people assume that a rescue pug has a myriad of health issues. Yes, some of them do and unfortunately, that is why they've been relinquished. And there are a number of pugs - young and older, who are healthy and full of love. They are ready to come home to a good family. Isn't it worth the time to research?

We also urge everyone to consider making a donation to the pug rescue of your choice. The medical bills are staggering. If you are not in a position to adopt a pug, please consider a donation to help with pug care and support. Many rescues have outdoor events and auctions every year. We encourage businesses to donate merchandise - it's tax deductible - and even better - the item sold just helped pay for vaccinations, medical procedures, or food.
