An early interest in science somehow detoured to journalism. Mary Crissman began her adult career at the Kansas City Times and Star, then later the Kansas City Business Journal. News writing and editing segued to public relations and promotional writing.
Crissman logged more than five years as an account executive, promoting people and products. In addition to writing biographies, technical information, promotional pieces, and press releases, she helped arrange numerous press conferences, press parties, press junkets, promotional events, radio, and television bookings, primarily in New York City, LA, and Chicago. This was during the era when the motto was you're only as good as your last placement and ideas were born out of collective brainstorming, meetings, long airline flights, and plenty of chair-spinning.
During the late 90's and with the encouragement of her husband, Lowell, children Claire and Hunter, and her four pug boys, Crissman set out to learn the art of website building and produced her first website called PugSpeak based on the company of the same name. Through many hours of creative thinking and hard work, the website has risen high in the search engine rankings. Since that time, Pug Parliament was developed, as well as the Pug Pad.
Another Day in Pug Paradise Web Design and Consulting was formed as a service of PugSpeak, LLC and under that name, Crissman has developed websites for other clients including the late South African artist, Joanne Knauf.
